Remember Big Island quilt

Quilt Passions worked with Hoffman Fabrics to come up with this fabric featuring places, flowers and creatures of the Big Island of Hawaii.  This fabric is available at many of the quilt stores located on the island.  Many you say, yes, didn't you know Hawaii was the hot bed of quilting?  Of course, give me a fabric and I have to come up with a design for it.
Now for the quilt that I came up with.  The design not only works for fussy cutting from the Big Island fabric but other fabrics that have designs that you would like to feature.  I am in the process of quilting another quilt using a floral pattern for the larger areas and it really looks nice.  Pictures of that quilt will come later. The quilt below looks better in person and you can see it hanging in Quilt Passions, Kailua Kona.  I call this pattern Remember Big Island.
The quilt stores of the Big Island will be having a shop hop in February and there are buses scheduled to go around the island.  Check this opportunity out if you are going to be on island in February.

Lemonade on the tree

Today has been a beautiful day at least in Kailua Kona.  I thought everyone would enjoy seeing the lemons on my tree.  It has been a bountiful year.  The size of the fruit vary but most of them are much bigger than the lemons you find in the supermarket.
My hands are quite large but take a look at this lemon!  They are really sweeter than the lemons you find in the supermarket.  I am thinking that maybe I should make some lemon bread with almonds.  Hmmm.
