Amy's Creative Side
Living in Hawaii we have wonderful flowers to enjoy.  The colors are glorious to look at.  Hibiscus come in so many colors and shapes.  The following picture is a hibiscus growing in my garden and it is one of them that led to my quilt that I am sharing during this Bloggers' Quilt Festival.
Note that the center of this hibiscus is a darker shade then the outer petal.  I could have chosen to use a different fabric for the very center but I wanted this to be simple design with fewer pieces. I found a fabric that gave a good change in color and did a little fussy cutting.   For my stamen I used small yellow beads and five larger ones to somewhat duplicate was in the real flower.  I hope that you enjoy my fabric interpretation of this flower.  I did the applique on this small quilt using back baste applique which has become my favorite method of doing traditional applique.  If you look really closely you will see a dragonfly in the quilting in the background.
Thank you for visiting.  Please go back to Amy's Creative Side and continue on viewing the beautiful quilts.
