Happy Holidays from Hawaii

I shot this picture of poinsettas growing along the road this morning.  There are some glorious poinsettas around the island and some of them look more like trees than a shrub.  They certainly are not like the ones we buy in pots.  Spectacular colors around this morning.

May all of you have a wonderful and safe Holiday season.

All of January I will be having an anniversary sale on my web site, so please check back in 2012!

Quilting Gallery is having a Blog Hop Party

Quilting Gallery is having a Blog Hop Party starting 12/10 through 12/17 with over 225 blogs signed up.  Join the fun!!  There are give aways at all the blogs that you have a chance to win.

Since I am a quilt designer living on the Big Island of Hawaii I am giving away a Hawaiian applique kit of my pineapple design.  The pineapple is a sign of friendship so I felt this was very appropriate as it is my gesture of friendship to you.  I will have the applique cut out for you so that you can start stitching that much faster.  I feel very privileged to be a designer and teacher of Hawaiian applique.  This quilt art form is relatively young.  The Hawaiians were introduce to patchwork quilting in the 1820's by the American missionaries and applique shortly there after.  They turned there new found knowledge into their own artistic expression with the large applique that we know today.

To win this kit please leave a comment telling us your favorite quilting tip.  The winner will be chosen at the end of the blog tour.

For another chance to win a pattern please visit my web site and sign up for the newsletter.  Each month I give away a free pattern to a new signee.

Sometime in January I will start selling my 18" Hawaiian applique kits with the applique cut out.  Check back for those then.
